As it turns out, prison is not fun – especially if you’re the nation’s laughing stock.
That’s the brutal reality Jussie Smollett is currently facing as he serves a 150-day prison stint for faking a MAGA hate crime.
Attorneys for disgraced actor Jussie Smollett are calling for an emergency release, citing “dangerous threats” faced by Smollett, including a message sent to him about sodomy.
The 39-year-old former Empire star has been the subject of “vicious threats” on social media, his lawyers argued in a new filing, according to a report.
The situation “no doubt reflects the hatred and wish for physical harm toward Smollett which he may experience during incarceration,” his legal team said.
Smollett’s family has also been harassed, the report noted.
One such call was received Friday by the actor’s siblings.
“I hope what they do to that guy in jail — here’s what they’re going to do, right. They’re going to take a broom handle, and take that little [expletive], shove it in there, and he’s gonna go, ‘[shrieking sound],'” an individual can be heard saying in a video of the call distributed by Smollett’s attorneys.
The call alluded to the 1997 attack on Abner Louima, who was sodomized by a police officer with a broomstick, perforating his rectum and bladder.
Smollett was convicted on five counts of felony disorderly conduct stemming from his fabrication of a 2019 hate crime.
The actor was sentenced to a five-month prison sentence in Chicago’s Cook County Jail, and he has been held in a psych ward.
As of Monday, he was not on suicide watch, and “it would be inaccurate and irresponsible to make any assumption about his mental or medical condition based on where he is currently housed,” according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Smollett has since become a martyr for the Black Lives Matter left and his co-stars who still insist on his innocence. Despite the confessions from the Nigerian brothers he hired to act as homophobic MAGA-chads, and the money exchanged to buy the supplies needed to stage a hate crime, the black activist left are choosing to remain ignorant.
Not really good for their cause, is it?
