Controversial Democrat Earns Trump’s Praise After Abandoning Party

Donald Trump doesn’t despise every Democrat — just most of them.

Democrat Senator from West Virginia Joe Manchin earned praise from Former President Donald Trump in a recent interview after it was reported that Manchin would vote against his party on key legislative issues.

The Former President applauded Sen. Manchin for “doing the right thing” by opposing the Democrats’ latest insidious push to jam through a radical election bill without Republican support. Trump also noted Manchin’s bravery for swimming against the Democrat current on the Senate filibuster rule, which he has repeatedly opposed.

The filibuster is currently GOP’s saving grace as the Senate remains evenly divided at 50 Republicans and 50 Democrats. Sen. Manchin now plays a key role in the success, or lack there of, in the Democrats’ legislative agenda. Without the filibuster Democrats could more easily crowbar their radical legislation through Senate for Joe Biden to sign into law.

In an interview on the Fox Business Network, Trump called Manchin’s opposition “a very important thing” despite the heavy blowback from his own party.

Trump added:

“Not only is Manchin doing the right thing, he’s doing a very important thing. Without his opposition the Democrats would be packing he Supreme Court. They would be doing all sorts of very bad, very unthinkable thinks that were never even discussed during the election.”

He continued:

“Nobody brought this stuff up during the election – not Joe, not Kamala, nobody. This is so radical even Bernie Sanders can’t believe it. This is far more Left than anything Bernie’s ever even talked about. They use this term progressives – but even the most radical people can’t believe what the Democrat Party is trying to do.”

As a Centrist Democrat, Sen. Manchin has repeatedly reiterated his position on the filibuster and other radical Democrat legislative measures, in particular the “For The People Act” which would overhaul and federalize the election process.

“I believe that partisan voting legislation will destroy the already weakening binds of our democracy, and for that reason, I will vote against the For the People Act. Furthermore, I will not vote to weaken or eliminate the filibuster,”

Just last week he voiced his opposition to the liberal hacks at CNN:

Other moderate Senators have made their hesitation with the Democrat Party’s agenda known. Senator Kristin Sinema of Arizona said she will not vote to remove the Senate filibuster rule.

Progressives lawmakers and organizations have been ramping up pressure on their leadership to nix the procedural hurdle as Republicans stand in the way of nearly any major legislative initiative.
