While Hunter Biden films himself smoking crack, his dad, the so-called President of the United States, is trying to ruin the fun for the rest of us.
Tobacco has long been an American tradition and the Biden administration is seeking to destroy it.
President Joe Biden’s administration is planning to remove nearly all nicotine from cigarettes sold in the U.S. in an attempt to get people to quit the habit.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will propose a rule limiting nicotine in May 2023, according to the Wall Street Journal. The proposed rule “would establish a maximum nicotine level in cigarettes and certain finished tobacco products.”
The plan was revealed on Tuesday as part of the Biden administration’s “unified agenda,” which is a collection of planned federal regulations released biannually.
FDA Commissioner Robert Califf said in a statement:
Nicotine is powerfully addictive. Lowering nicotine levels to minimally addictive or non-addictive levels would decrease the likelihood that future generations of young people become addicted to cigarettes and help more currently addicted smokers to quit.
On its face, that is the most ridiculous argument ever made to prevent nicotine addiction.
Instead of reducing the number of nicotine addicts, people will simply smoke more low-nicotine cigarettes to get the fix they desire.
According to the CDC, about 12.5% of the American population are cigarette smokers. Seems like a total ban on nicotine that affects only a small portion of the population is disproportional government overreach. First, it’s nicotine, but what’s next? Sugar? Fast food? Salt?
No one argues that cigarettes are healthy, but Americans should be allowed to make the decision to inhale nicotine for themselves.
Here are the facts: Almost 450,000 Americans die from smoking-related causes per year. But that shouldn’t justify draconian, fascistic government overreach that limits the personal choices Americans are allowed to make.
Although nicotine is the addictive substance found in cigarettes and does not directly cause cancer, Biden’s administration is hopeful the FDA regulation would limit the use of tobacco products that contain cancer-causing chemicals.
Meanwhile, obese Americans are just as at risk for multiple forms of cancer yet the Biden administration says nothing about it.
